Events in July and August: Sadly we are unable to hold any events at the moment because of the Covid restrictions. However, you can still help the rebuilding of St Peter’s by donating to the Church Appeal via the St Peter’s website or by sending a cheque to our Treasurer, Ken Ingle.
Events in September and October: At the moment we are still planning to hold:
- Our AGM and Party on Friday, 11th September at 6pm at Town Street Farmhouse, Church Street Ropley (by kind invitation of Jonathan and Anne Dawson).
- The talk on art by Douglas Skeggs on Saturday, 4th October at 7pm in Cheriton church. Douglas is a very well known and entertaining speaker.
- The talk by Dr Helen Gaulke on ‘Behind the Scenes at Time Team’ on Saturday, 24th October at 7pm in the Parish Hall. Helen is a renowned archaeologist who worked with Tony Robinson and others on the popular Time Team series.
Please look out for further updates on these events on myropley.org and The Friends website (www.friendsofropleychurch.org.uk).
How to join The Friends: It is very easy to do! Contact Ken Ingle on 01962 772230 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more details. A minimum donation of £10 is all that is required.
Aprons for sale: The Raise St Peter’s aprons are for sale. Ask in The Courtyard Shop about them or contact Jules Flory on 01962 772169. Dark green with the St Peter’s logo on the front, they cost £12.50 for 1 or £20 for 2.
Greetings cards: We hope to soon be producing more of Tony Gilliam’s lovely greetings cards in the next month or so. Showing scenes of Ropley throughout the seasons, Tony had made and sold them through the shop for several years to raise money for the Rebuild. We also hope to have some Christmas cards (sorry for mentioning it so early!) available in the Autumn using Tony’s photographs. For more details, contact Alison Wood (01962 773603 or email@example.com).
Online fundraising: As we can’t meet in large numbers for some, we are looking at other ways for raising money for the Church Appeal via online events, sales and at home events. Several ideas have been suggested to us, including a quiz, wine tasting and setting up a 100 Club. See our website (www.friendsofropleychurch) and future editions of the magazine for more details.
