Friends of St Peter’s

Thank you to Jill and Maurice Shakespeare for opening their garden for the Church Appeal. Two sessions of 30 people (to meet the Covid requirements) enjoyed looking at the beautiful plants and eating the cream tea and abundance of cakes on what was one of the hottest days of the summer so far. Over £1,000 was raised for the Appeal.

Forthcoming events

AGM & Sumer Drinks Party – new date to be announced soon
Sadly the continuing Covid restrictions meant we weren’t able to hold our AGM and Summer Party in June. A new date is being arranged and will be shown on the Friends and St Peter’s websites and messages will be sent round via the Ropley Society newsletter, Facebook and Instagram.
Sunday, 25th July at 1 pm: Lamb Roast Lunch at Maddocks Hill House, Maddocks Hill, Ropley

See our advert for more details. The lunch will definitely go ahead, whatever the weather and any Covid restrictions that are in place. So, book your tickets early in case we are still limited to 30 people! Phone Charles and Martine on 01962 772311 to buy your tickets.

The Church Appeal

The rebuilding of St Peter’s is making great progress – as you can see when you pass by the church. From late June to late September there is the amazing opportunity to double all donations made to the Appeal, up to a maximum of £50,000, thanks to a very generous donor.

If you could donate money to either The Friends or to the Appeal, or would like to sponsor part of the rebuild, please get in touch with our Treasurer, Ken Ingle, on 01962 772230 or by e-mail at keningle@btinternet.com  . Alternatively, you can make a donation online via the stpetersropley.org.uk website. Please remember to gift aid your donation if you are able to.

Ask your friends and colleagues if they could donate help during this period too.

Other ways to help our fundraising:

Raise St Peter’s Aprons: Our aprons are available to buy in The Courtyard Shop or direct from Jules Flory (01962 772169). Green with the Raise St Peter’s logo on them, they cost £10. They are very practical and make great presents too.

Easyfundraising helps St Peter’s: Could you consider signing on to easyfundraising before you order goods and insurance online? It doesn’t cost you anything, but raises money for the rebuilding of St Peter’s. Click on the easyfundraising.co.uk website and search for ‘Raise St Peter’s’ as your chosen charity. So far, we have raised over £630 from people signing up to easyfundraising.

Tony Gilliam’s Note Cards are on sale again: After a break of a year or so, we are pleased to have the lovely notecards that Tony Gilliam produced back on sale. You can buy them at The Courtyard Shop for £1.50 each. Different cards will be introduced at different times of the year to reflect the changing seasons.

How to Join The Friends: It’s very easy. Just contact Ken Ingle on 01962 772230. A minimum donation of £10 is all that is required.
