NEW – Ropley History Network and Archive

Exploring – Recording – Sharing

Interested in the history of the Ropley village and local area?

Come and learn about a new initiative started by a few like-minded villagers who have the intention to create a website for the research and archiving of local history material that will be accessible for all to use and enjoy. Everyone is invited to contribute.

To learn more about it, you are invited to two drop-in sessions to be held at the Coffee Rooms on

Saturday 8th June 10am – 1pm

Wednesday 12th June, 6.30pm – 9pm

Come to share and discuss areas of interest, projects of your own or perhaps link up with other villagers that may have a shared interest in a subject of study.

You might like to bring along, for example –

  • Photos or slides of Ropley and local area, buildings, fields, agriculture, village events – local life from the past.
  • Old Maps including estate maps and documents that may include histories of people and families in the community
  • Recordings or transcriptions of oral history from relatives who grew up in the local area.

Or, if you are just interested in what the website network and archive is hoping to achieve, please come along and tell us what you think – we look forward to seeing you!
