Last May Hampshire County Council offered Ropley eight elm trees to plant as part of the King’s Coronation celebrations.

These disease-free elm trees are a great way to bring the stately elm back to Hampshire. They also host the rare White- letter Hairstreak butterfly, which has suffered hugely from the loss of mature elms as they are its sole foodplant.

The trees have now been planted in locations which are visually prominent from public locations .
